Nancy Salgado-Cowan has been a homeowner in Piscataway for over 18 years, raising her children with her husband, Steven Salgado-Cowan. Nancy is the proud mother of two children. Cielo graduated from Piscataway High School in 2021 and is attending TCNJ, and Kai a middle schooler at Schor. Nancy is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, providing primary care to kids for over 26 years, and loves working with children, and their families at Somerset Pediatrics. Nancy’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Wagner College, in Staten Island, and a Master of Science, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from Hunter College of the City University of NY, New York, NY. Nancy holds several certifications and is licensed in the state of NJ as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from The National Pediatric Certification Board.

Nancy has continued to help children by volunteering in and outside of the School District over the last 14 years. Nancy is an active member of her Church and has been an integral part of leading activities/events such as serving as a team leader in the church’s Sunday school program. As well as participating in a mission trip to the Dominican Republic, served as the host home for peer groups, and mentored teen girls.

Nancy currently serves as the treasurer of the PTO at Schor Middle School, and she has served on the Executive Board of the Grandview PTO for several years including being President for three years. Additionally, she participated in helping to shape the 10-year vision for the district at the invitation of the Superintendent. She is honored to continue to serve on two Board of Education committees.

As a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Nancy brings a fresh new perspective to our Board of Education. Nancy has a wealth of professional and personal experience providing for our student's physical and emotional needs. An independent and critical thinker, Nancy Salgado-Cowan cares about our students, staff, and community. Nancy knows that all children are unique and special with varied gifts. And all children deserve a free, excellent public education that is individualized to meet their needs.
