Dear Piscataway Families,
As our Back to School Nights wrap up, and I was very happy to see so many families come out to meet their children’s teachers and learn more about our schools. Our school community is strongest when our parents, administrators, and educators work together to help our students reach their full potential and well-being.
As we move into October, there are a number of special observances we recognize throughout our schools to celebrate our students and show them how to maintain a happy and healthy life and school climate.
Hispanic Heritage Month started September 15 and continues through October 15. Schools recognize and honor the contributions and culture of Hispanic Americans.
The Week of Respect, October 2-6, teaches our children to show respect for their peers, teachers, parents, and themselves, and focuses on preventing harassment and bullying.
School Violence Awareness Week, October 16-20, focuses on keeping our schools secure and safe from violence. Students take part in age-appropriate discussions about conflict resolution and inclusion.
Red Ribbon Week, October 23-31, supports our students by teaching them the importance of avoiding drugs, alcohol, and tobacco.
These special observances in October help to lay the foundation for a collegial and productive school year. We hope our families will join us in celebrating these worthwhile goals.
Very Sincerely,

Dr. Frank Ranelli
Superintendent of Schools
