  • Note: The Board opens its meetings at 6:30 PM and regularly convenes an executive session to discuss items that are specified in its motion to convene an executive session. The Board normally reconvenes in public session at 7:30 PM. All meetings of the Board of Education shall be considered action meetings.
  • Committee Meetings begin at 6:30 PM with the exception of meetings of the the Fiscal Planning & Operations and Culture, Climate & Community Relations committees, which begin at 7:00 PM.
The Piscataway Board of Education encourages the involvement of parents and other citizens in its public schools. Volunteer opportunities exist in all schools, ranging from library, to classrooms, from parent-teacher organizations to Board of Education Committees.
 
Members of Board of Education Committees explore issues directly related to the operations of the schools and make recommendations for action to the Board. Listed below is a brief description of each committee and its function. Members serve for a one-year term and may reapply each year. Committees are advisory; decisions rest with the Board of Education.
  • Curriculum and Programs (Pupil Services and Technology): Reviews curriculum, texts, and programs in order to recommend Board adoption, carefully considering the issues and research related to the education of all children.
  • Fiscal Planning and Operations: Ensures resources are allocated and utilized in accordance with the Board's short and long term educational and operational goals and objectives.
  • Policy/Legislative: Develops and revises district board policies as mandated by law or required for the daily operation of the district. Efforts include addressing issues with public officials. 

  • Culture, Climate, and Community Relations: Assist school and district with culture and climate initiatives that will benefit the entire Piscataway community. Efforts will include beautification projects and programs that will promote positive educational environments. Creates and executes initiatives to improve public support and awareness of educational opportunities. Efforts include assisting at community events, and initiating activities that strengthen communication among all segments of the community.
