Superintendent's Corner

November 17, 2020

Dear Piscataway Families,

As we continue remote learning throughout November and December, I want to remind you of some of our key services and important upcoming dates, as well as provide the approved 2021-2022 School Calendar.

Counseling Services
Students or family members who experience anxiety or other mental health difficulties, or just need someone to talk to, please reach out to our counseling staff. This is not an easy time for our kids and we want to ensure they get the support they need, both academically and emotionally. Your first call should be to the guidance counselor at your home school, who can either begin services, or refer you to the best resource. The Haven, Piscataway's mental health program based at PHS, is also available to assist students and families. The Haven can be reached at 732-981-0700, ext. 2250 or via email at Haven@pway.orgAs always, if you are experiencing a true emergency call 911, or if you need immediate mental health assistance call UBHC at (800) 969-5300.

Meal Services
We will continue to offer “Grab and Go” meals during remote learning. Our offerings include more fresh fruits and vegetable and full lunch entrees. We also adjusted pick-up times to better accommodate working families. The schedule days remain Mondays and Thursdays at the same locations, but at these adjusted times:

Arbor, King, and Schor: 3:00 PM—5:00 PM
Admin Building, Children’s Corner River, and Eisenhower: 4:00 PM—6:00 PM

Additionally, please note there will be no meal distribution on Thanksgiving Day. Instead, meal distribution will take place on Wednesday, November 25, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at all six locations.

Parent Teacher Conferences/No Homework Night
Parent Teacher Conferences will go on as scheduled from Wednesday, November 18 – Friday, November 20. Please make sure to consult communication from your teachers for your appointment time and how to best access your online appointment.

Students in Grades K-8 can enjoy No Homework Night tomorrow, Wednesday, November 18. We hope this allows you to enjoy relaxed family time.

2021-2022 Calendar
At its November 12 meeting, The Board of Education approved the 2021-2022 Calendar. All Holidays and Full-Day In-Services dates are noted. Still to come are dates for Half-Day In-Service and Parent/Teacher Conferences. When those dates are confirmed, we will send an adjusted calendar. This calendar will be placed on the district and school websites for easy referral. We hope that releasing this information now can help you plan the year, and that those plans can once again include safe travels.

Very Sincerely,

 Ranelli Signature
